SOOM T

Scotland Hip-HopReggae

With her inimitable style and absolutely insane flow, SOOM T has been touring the world for over 20 years. After more than 160 shows with her band The Stone Monks, she decided this year to make a 180-degree turn back to her Glasgow roots with a 100% sound system tour.

Following the release of the album "Vision" in 2025, produced in collaboration with Manudigital, SOOM T is opening a new chapter with the EP "Free The Hard Way", released in 2026 in collaboration with Krak In Dub. This project heralds a year dedicated to sound systems and digital reggae.

SOOM T is a Scottish singer of Indian descent. After activism with Y Network a political group of young representatives from Glasgow neighborhoods working to bring about change in their city SOOM T decided to devote herself to music to speak out against injustices and recount her daily struggles through powerful, socially conscious lyrics.

She first joined a hip-hop group, released a few bhangra songs (a popular Indian music genre), and then discovered sound systems and reggae culture through various collectives and producers, including Bus, The Orb, and Mungo’s Hi-Fi.

She was quickly noticed by the public, particularly thanks to her heartfelt music and her incisive, inimitable flow. SOOM T handles words with incredible ease and has always championed sincerity in her lyrics. She went on to become a key figure in the underground reggae scene as the “Queen of Raggamuffin.”
After fifteen years in the business and nearly one hundred tracks to her credit, she released her album "Free As a Bird" in 2015 on Wagram Music, showcasing the full range of her talent and musical spectrum. This was followed by “Ode To A Karrot” (Khanti Records) in 2016, “Born Again” (Strong Foundation) in 2018, “The Arch” (X-Ray Production) in 2020, and “Free The Hard Way” (2026).

A regular at Europe’s biggest festivals including Dour Festival, Solidays, Les Déferlantes, Paléo Festival, and Les Vieilles Charrues SOOM T is heading back on tour in 2026, performing with a live sound system that stays true to her energy and authenticity.
