A leading figure in the French-speaking reggae scene, Yaniss Odua has been one of the most respected and authentic voices in contemporary reggae for over 20 years. Blending roots reggae with modern influences, Yaniss embodies a vibrant, socially conscious, and deeply human style of reggae. His return with a new album, expected this fall, marks the beginning of a new chapter in his career.
With a career spanning nearly 30 years, YANISS ODUA has established himself as one of the leading figures in French-language reggae. A native of Martinique, he has left his mark on several generations with songs that have become cult classics (“La Caraïbe,” “Rouge Jaune Vert,” “Chalawa…”), which have now accumulated over 120 million views on YouTube. His energy on stage, his commitment, and his ability to bring together a wide audience make him a pillar of the contemporary reggae scene. His albums have been praised by critics (Télérama, Le Monde, RFI, TV5 Monde, Mouv’…), and his last two Paris concerts (at Cabaret Sauvage and Élysée Montmartre) were recorded by France Télévisions for broadcast on Culturebox.
As a socially conscious artist, Yaniss speaks out against injustice with candor, yet always maintains a positive outlook. His music serves as a means to raise awareness while empowering his listeners. From "Yon Pa Yon" (2002) to "Stay High" (2022), including "Moment Idéal" (2013) and "Nouvelle Donne" (2017), he has always successfully combined substance and style, with vivid lyrics set to polished productions rooted in reggae yet open to modern influences.
His artistic standards have led him to collaborate with the best, such as the legendary Clive Hunt (Jimmy Cliff, Alpha Blondy, Stevie Wonder, the Rolling Stones, Grace Jones…), as well as young talents like the duo Elevation (Kahifa & Kevin Kay). Always on the hunt for new sounds, he has released tracks with Ky-Mani Marley, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Danakil, Dub Inc, Kalash, Keny Arkana, Flavia Coelho…
Following the album "Mon Frère" (2025) born out of a strong bond with FNX (a young artist he’s been mentoring since he was 14) Yaniss is opening a new chapter with an album set for release on October 2, 2026. The first single, “On My Way,” marks this comeback with a conscious reggae-hip-hop track that balances introspection and determination. The project promises to be rich in high-profile collaborations, notably with the Masaka Kids global superstars from Uganda as well as with U.S. rap legend Redman, confirming the international scope and modernity of his artistic vision.
Yaniss returns to the stage in 2026 with a new show and a new team, designed to bring this repertoire to life with renewed energy. FNX will be part of every date on the tour, embodying on stage the intergenerational dialogue that runs through this new project. True to his roots, YANISS ODUA delivers a powerful, human, and unifying live performance that blends reggae roots with contemporary vibes.
