The OUSANOUSAVA story began in the early 1980s, with the writing of the group’s first songs.
After numerous performances on stages across Reunion Island, the group achieved widespread recognition in 1989 with the release of its self-titled debut album, “OUSANOUSAVA.” Originally released on cassette, this album quickly became one of the greatest successes in the history of Reunionese music.
Over the decades, the band has built a rich discography of 15 albums and numerous artistic projects. The band explores different musical worlds through original compositions and covers of French and Creole songs, while maintaining a deeply Reunionese musical identity.
Building on their success, OUSANOUSAVA performed on Reunion Island’s biggest stages, drawing ever-larger audiences. The group also took their music beyond the island, touring several countries in the Indian Ocean, notably Madagascar, Mauritius, the Seychelles, and Zimbabwe.
In mainland France, the group has performed at renowned venues such as the Zénith de Paris, the New Morning, the Cabaret Sauvage, the Pan Piper, the JAM in Montpellier, the Antipode, the Makeda, and La Barakason.
Today, after a career spanning more than four decades and their latest album, "Ça mon pays", released in 2021, OUSANOUSAVA continues to keep Reunionese culture alive and share it with the world. On stage, the ten musicians who make up the band deliver a generous and unifying performance that blends Maloya, Sega, and Folk.
