CIMARONS
Living legends of European reggae, the Cimarons are making their comeback with a new album, Harder Than The Rock. A powerful project that takes the listener back to the golden age of reggae while affirming the band's undiminished vitality.
Formed in London in 1967 by Jamaican musicians including Locksley Gichie (guitar) and Franklyn Dunn (bass), the CIMARONS were the very first reggae band to establish itself on European soil. With their recordings for the legendary Trojan Records label, they helped popularize reggae culture far beyond Jamaica. Their career led them to collaborate with key figures such as Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Dennis Brown, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Toots Hibbert… and even Paul McCartney.
Today, Dunn and Gichie continue the adventure, joined by singer Michael Arkk, to breathe new life into it. Recorded and produced by Roberto Sánchez at A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio in Spain, Harder Than The Rock embodies a sound that is both fresh and timeless, a worthy heir to an extraordinary career, which the documentary film Harder Than The Rock The CIMARONS Story directed by Mark Warmington traces.
