ADMIRAL T has established himself as a major French dancehall artist. At the age of twelve, he began to make his mark in sound systems, joining the Karukera Sound System collective, a veritable breeding ground for reggae and dancehall in the French-speaking Caribbean. It was at the age of sixteen that he recorded "Rapide" with Karukera Sound System. “Mozaïk Kréyòl” was released in the French West Indies in July 2003. It wasn't until he stole Sean Paul's show at the Garance Reggae Festival in 2004 that Universal signed him. Over and above his committed and non-violent lyrics, ADMIRAL T achieves a synthesis of styles that is the strength of his music. Dancehall, lovers rock, gwo ka, rap, zouk and soca make up his signature cocktail. His strong yet gentle voice soars over all the rhythms with equal joy.
A star in the French Antilles since his first album, he made a name for himself in continental France with “Toucher L'Horizon” in 2006, which was in top charts as soon as it was released, and saw a flurry of collaborations, with Diam's, Rohff and Kassav'. It’s such a success that his shows are frequently sold out and he started to have an international recognition since 2008. “Instinct Admiral” in 2010 also ranks among the best-selling French albums. His fourth album, “Face B”, was released in June 2012, and features contributions from Jamaica's Gyptian and J-Mi Sissoko. In 2014, his fourth studio album entitled “#iamcc” was released. It was a major musical evolution in the artist's career, as he fouses on zouk and gwoka. In 2017, he became the second West Indies artist to perform solo at the AccorHotels Arena after Kery James. In October 2019, he releases two albums, “Mozaïka” and “Caribbean Monster”. In 2021, he released a 40-track album including all of his island genre from zouk to dancehall and reggae.
Finally, in 2025 he comes back with a 10th album “Maestro”, released on February 1st. Produced by his son, LewisMelo, this album is about family, identity and transmission. He’s mastering once again a range of French West Indies styles, as dancehall, zouk, bouyon and gwoka. Some interludes punctuate the album, in wich ADMIRAL T talks about identity and those genre in “Maestro”, “Idantité Mizikal”, “Liyannaj”, “Zouk”. A great way to rediscover ADMIRAL T !
